THE HISTORY OF bakers wood
Bakers Wood dates back to 1856 (earliest known reference by name) and as a developed ‘address’ in the 1930’s by the then owners who bought it from the owners of Denham Manor. Since then, it has developed into the Private Estate seen today which was the product of many individual sites being sold and developed since the late 1930’s. Bakers Wood resident, Cliff Buckton, has provided a fascinating review of the history of The Wood. This can be seen by clicking on the button below.
One of the residents (Christine Kearley) was able to find a copy of the original sales details for the different houses offered for sale and built in Bakers Wood (known as Redhill Estate) by S.A. Field Co Ltd in the 1930’s. It certainly makes for amusing reading and Cliff Buckton has again created a really interesting synopsis of the details. Both are downloadable on the buttons below.
